Instagram vs Facebook – Which is Better For Your Influencer Marketing Campaign?

by PopTribe / Monday, 29 June 2020 / Published in Influence Marketing, Social Media Network
Influencer Marketing Campaign

Influencer Marketing are probably the most powerful brand promoters in recent decades. Companies can rarely match the pull of an influencer marketing campaign. Most consumers know their way around the computer to research what they are buying. By the time the consumer contacts the supplier, they know what they can expect to pay, and how other consumers liked or disliked the merchandise.

Customers get this information for product influencers. Influencers have their own, well-designed websites and social media following. They select the social media providers carefully and get the best that each of them has to offer. You will find their Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube channels. They have followers. Do not underestimate the power of their reach. Of these social media channels, Facebook and Instagram are the two most likely to give a company a comfortable return on their investment. But, of the two, which is best for your influencer marketing campaign?

Facebook and Instagram

Before you consider them separately, consider them together. We say this because Facebook and Instagram are owned by the same company. In 2012, Facebook bought Instagram for a cool, 1-Billion dollars. While you will want to look at these companies on their own merits, understand there is a connection. This connection gives the influencer tools that are more powerful than the same platforms were before the purchase. Here are a few examples:

  • Incredible reach

The combination of the two networks allows both platforms the incredible reach of Facebook data. So, target audiences for each platform are more efficient and easier to use. This gives the ROI to the marketing program a higher margin.

  • Tractability

By combining the two programs Facebook and Instagram are able to give the client flexibility. They can custom design their campaigns and have better control of where and when the program will run to give them the best exposure. This also allows for trial runs allowing for hands-on studies of the program’s effectiveness.

  • Program awareness

The built-in tools give you clear analytics. You will be able to pinpoint which part of your ad was a success and which fell short.

Issues to consider

Facebook and Instagram are not the same platforms. Sometimes the perks listed above give the influencer the impression that they work as one. That is far from the truth. Facebook has 2-billion users. In May of 2019, there were 58.3 million users between the ages of 25 to 34-years old. Keep in mind that Facebook has three times the users that Instagram has, but second place is nothing to turn away from. 35.2% of Instagram users also fell into the age group of 25 to 34-years old. However, 21.4% of their users were between 18-years old and 24-years old. In both cases slightly more than half of the users are women.

Because both Facebook and Instagram are dedicated to stopping “Blackhat SEO” they are continually upgrading and adjusting their algorithms. Influencers need to be aware. There are a lot of paid ads on Facebook and Instagram. An influencer may think they are doing everything right only to find out that they are wrong. This can hurt the client as it is his brand that will be punished if a problem arises.

Which is best?

We have laid out the basics of the super-powers of the two giants. If you are confused, it is understandable. So far, they both fair very well. How do you choose? The answer may come down to you and your abilities. Both platforms will reach your clients. But, how much time do you have to commit to your marketing? If you are looking for a platform that you can measure in every aspect, every day, you probably want Facebook. It is made to be monitored and controlled. Are you ready to lay this down as your forever model, Facebook will answer every question. You will know how well the ad placed in which area. How many people read it and how many clicked through. If you want to work with a team that is setting the ground floor and that have the knowledge to follow every turn, then you have the man-power, time, and money to go all in.

If you want simple ads that have you up and running in a few clicks, you want Instagram. You can still get your information, but not as detailed in some cases. You have faith in your marketing skills and the awesome Influencers you have impressed. Instagram is your best bet. You can never pay your way to the top of an influencers chart, but you can earn your way, and their popularity, combined with yours, backed by the muscles of Instagram and Facebook gives you a perfect place to begin.
